Welcome, I’m Honored to Be Part of Your Journey!
Hi, I'm Victoria, an integrative psychiatric nurse practitioner who believes in the power of understanding and healing the root causes of mental health challenges, rather than just managing symptoms.
My journey to integrative psychiatry. . .
. . .has been deeply personal and transformative. With over three decades in healthcare across various settings, I've witnessed both the strengths and limitations of conventional medicine. However, it was my own family experiences that truly shaped my approach to healing. When my daughter, who was in her early thirties breastfeeding her youngest child, was diagnosed with breast cancer, I found myself at a crossroads between my traditional medical training and the need to honor individual healing journeys.
This experience taught me the profound importance of listening rather than directing, of supporting rather than controlling, and of integrating different approaches to healing rather than adhering to a single paradigm.
My practice of integrative psychiatry. . .
. . .has been particularly shaped by witnessing the impact of unresolved trauma and attachment wounds in families. Having experienced addiction in my own family, I understand the deep pain parents feel when watching their children struggle, and the frustration of navigating a healthcare system that often fails to address the "why" behind behaviors.
These experiences have driven me to seek advanced training in trauma healing, particularly in approaches that help adults process and heal from childhood experiences that continue to impact their present-day lives.
I believe. . .
. . .that healing takes place in relationships when we stop talking and truly listen. This philosophy stems from my own journey of learning to support loved ones through health challenges, realizing that sometimes the most powerful medicine is creating a space where people feel truly heard and understood. My approach combines evidence-based medication management with integrative therapies, including specialized trauma healing techniques, nutritional support, and lifestyle modifications.
When I'm not in the office, you might find me:
Spending time with my grandchildren, cherishing each unique stage of their lives
Traveling to new places and experiencing different cultures with my husband
Dancing with my husband in new cities where no one knows us and not caring how silly we look
Attending Sunday morning worship
Studying true crime cases from a neuropsychological perspective
Finding joy in simple moments, like the excitement of our miniature Schnauzers when I arrive home after a long day
